About us

We believe that everyone has the right to live, work and play freely, equitably and safely no matter where they are in the world.

We take a long-term view of conflict and crisis and contribute in practical ways to rebuilding the peace by addressing the economic, social, environmental, and cultural impact of war. We recognise that peace is hard to achieve and often even more difficult to maintain without tackling the underlying drivers of conflict and its aftermath.

We therefore focus our resources on working with civilian populations in developing countries where conflicts past and present fuel poverty, disadvantage and discrimination. Our work contributes to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development led by the United Nations and by taking this approach we make communities safer, more sustainable and empower local people to take back control of their lives and shape their own futures.

As an international NGO we take a collaborative approach to our work putting conflict affected communities at the centre of the decision-making and delivery process while using our own knowledge and experience to help turn their ideas and aspirations into reality.
